“The Txoko Experience: The Secret Culinary Space of The Basques” Screening & Pintxos Reception

Discover the incredible world of Basque cuisine for one special evening with La Cuchara, The Parkway Theater, and filmmaker Yuri Morejon. Hosted by the Parkway Theater and La Cuchara, guests will enjoy a screening of the film, Q & A with screenwriter, Marcela Garces, and director, Yuri Morejon, and a reception with passed pintxos from La Cuchara.

“The Txoko Experience” is a 50-minute documentary that focuses on the unique spaces of txokos, or gastronomic societies, where artisanal cuisine from the Basque Country is the main protagonist. The film features the voices of a selection of renowned Michelin Star Basque chefs: Elena Arzak (Restaurante Arzak), Victor Arguinzoniz (Asador Etxebarri), Josean Alija (Nerua Guggenheim Bilbao), and Aitor Arregi (Restaurante Elkano), in their own restaurant kitchens, who become narrators of the film. In addition, the film highlights regional products such as Rioja wine and Idiazabal cheese, among others. By emphasizing the products and the chefs who work with them, the film underlines the value, essence, and environment in which delicious, innovative meals are designed. Click to view a trailer.
