Meet Our Chef and Baker

Ben Lefenfeld, Chef and Co-owner
Many trips to the Basque region inspired Chef Ben to bring the simplicity and distinct flavors of its cuisine to Baltimore. Before creating La Cuchara, Ben was Chef de Cuisine of Gerard’s Place in DC, Sous Chef at Charleston and Executive Chef at Petit Louis Bistro in Baltimore. Ben was recognized as one of Baltimore’s “40 Under 40” by Baltimore Business Journal for his talents and his adaptability.

Carrie Goltra, Baker
A graduate of the Baltimore International College Culinary School, Carrie learned the art of bread making at Pazo under the tutelage of the late Dale Dugan. Carrie’s expertise and creativity shine in her loaves and desserts featuring Basque-influenced ingredients.
